Goals + Assists per 90 Minutes Calculator

Calculate goals and assists per 90 minutes (G+A/90) — the standard stat for comparing attacking output across playing time.

Informational only — not a substitute for official league statistics or professional judgment.

How it's calculated

G+A/90 = (Goals + Assists) ÷ Minutes Played × 90 Example: 12 goals, 7 assists, 2,160 minutes played G+A/90 = (12 + 7) ÷ 2,160 × 90 ≈ 0.79

Assumptions

  • Uses whichever goals and assists totals you enter — if your source distinguishes penalty vs. non-penalty goals, the result will reflect whichever figure you used.
  • Most meaningful over a substantial sample (900+ minutes); small samples can produce misleadingly high or low per-90 rates.

Frequently asked questions

Why per 90 minutes instead of per game or per season?

Players rarely play the exact same number of minutes — substitutions, injuries, and squad rotation all shorten appearances. Per-90 stats scale everyone's output to a common, full-match basis so a player who scored 5 goals in 900 minutes can be compared fairly to one who scored 8 in 1,800.

What's a good G+A/90 for a forward versus a midfielder?

Elite forwards in top European leagues often post G+A/90 above 0.8–1.0, while a strong attacking midfielder might sit around 0.5–0.7 and a defensive midfielder well below 0.2 — expectations vary heavily by position and the team's overall attacking output, so G+A/90 is most useful compared within the same position.

Does this include penalty goals?

This calculator simply divides whatever goals and assists totals you enter, so it inherits whatever convention your source data uses. Sites like FBref publish both a standard G+A/90 and a non-penalty version (npG+A/90); use whichever goals figure matches the comparison you're trying to make.

Is a small-sample G+A/90 reliable?

Not very — a hot streak over a few hundred minutes can produce an inflated per-90 rate that won't hold up over a full season. Per-90 stats are most meaningful over at least 900–1,000 minutes (roughly 10+ full matches) of playing time.
